Unsere Degustationsnotiz
Der ‹Eneo› ist ein tiefer, saftiger und dunkelfruchtiger Wein, der opulent und intensiv, dabei aber strukturiert und fokussiert wirkt. Im Auftakt erinnert er an Kirschen und Kirschkerne, rote Pflaumen, Himbeeren und Brombeeren. Neben der Frucht findet man zudem intensive Noten von Minze, Zimt und Süssholz, etwas Rauch und Zeder. Am Gaumen ist das ein cremiger, aromatisch dichter, saftiger Wein, der jetzt mit etwas Luft schon hervorragend zu geniessen ist.

Fabio Chiarelottos Weine sind ein Ausbund an Kraft und Tiefe, aber auch an frischer Frucht und Agilität. Damit hat der Winzer aus dem Val di Cornia den Nerv vieler Toskana- und auch Super-Tuscan-Freunde getroffen. Sein ‚Eneo‘ 2020 ist das beste Beispiel für diese erfolgreiche Stilistik.

This is a blend of 65% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malvasia Nera from a warm vintage. The 2020 Eneo doesn't have the same pulp and mass that we see in the 2019 vintage; however, it does show lots of richness and intensity, especially in terms of bouquet. Perhaps the aromas are more focused and sharp in this wine, and there is a pretty mineral note that cuts a through line connecting the bouquet to the medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. This vintage feels more accessible compared to the 2019, and the alcohol content is a high 15%. Production is 29,000 bottles.

The 2020 Eneo is bright and effusive, with notable aromatic presence but perhaps a bit less textural intensity than most years. That will make it easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and a hint of cedar linger.

Vinifikation
Bei diesem Wein handelt es sich um eine Cuvée aus 65 % Sangiovese, 25 % Cabernet Sauvignon und 10 % Malvasia Nera. Die Reben stehen in einem Weinberg, der unweit des Meeres auf 60 bis 90 Metern Seehöhe liegt und von einem Anteil Galestro, Silex und Ton geprägt wird. Der Wein wurde teils in Barriques, teils in Tonneaux mit rund 40 % Neuholzanteil zwischen zehn und zwölf Monaten ausgebaut.
