Brombeere, Cassis und feine Trüffelnoten spielen mit Röstnuancen und Graphit und lassen die komplexe, extravagante Art des Pauillac erahnen. Reichhaltig, dekadent und vollmundig am Gaumen, zeigt er eine opulente Frucht, verblüffende Struktur und süssliche Tannine, den glorreichen Abschluss macht das unfassbar lange Finish.

Da gehen einem doch glatt die Superlative aus. Hier kommt das Maß aller Dinge ins Glas, ein „Wolkenkratzer“, wie Parker ihn beschreibt. Und wenn die Skala nicht bei 100 endete, so hätte der Pauillac bei Parker wohl auch diese Wolkendecke durchbrochen. Unsere Skala endet auch bei 100 – leider.

The 2010 Latour is deep garnet in color, and—WOW—it erupts from the glass with powerful crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and blackberry pie scents plus intense sparks of dried roses, cigar boxes, fragrant earth and smoked meats with aniseed and crushed rocks wafts. Full-bodied, concentrated and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy texture and lovely freshness carrying the rich, opulent fruit to an epically long finish.

The aromas of flowers such as roses, violets and lilacs jump from the glass then turn to dark berries such as blueberries and blackberries. It's full-bodied, with velvety tannins and dense and intense with a chocolate, berry and currant character. This is juicy and rich with wood still showing a bit, but it's all coming together wonderfully. Muscular yet toned. Another perfect wine like the 2010.

Vinifikation
Eine erhabene Cuvée aus 90,5 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 9,5 % Merlot und 0,5 % Petit Verdot, phänomenaler Erstwein des Château Latour, eines von nur fünf Grand Cru Classés in Bordeaux. Kaiserliche Eminenz also, und der 2010er wird sich mühelos als Jahrhundertjahrgang nach 1990, 2000 und 2005 einreihen. Biodynamischer Anbau, Handlese, strenge Traubenselektion, die privilegiertesten Lagen in Bordeaux und lange Reifung legen das Fundament für einen Wein, dem Robert Parker ein Lagerungspotential von bis zu 100 Jahren zutraut.
