Dieser Châteauneuf-du-Pape zeigt ein tiefes Rubinrot. Das Bouquet ist intensiv und provenzalisch, dominiert von reifen Kirschen, Veilchen, Lakritze und würziger Garrigue. Am Gaumen ist der Wein mittelkräftig bis vollmundig, seidenweich und zeigt eine charmante, reine Fruchtdichte. Reife Tannine und eine solide Struktur münden in einem langen, harmonischen Abgang. Ein komplexer Wein mit grossem Potenzial.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape is another winner from this team, and readers can’t go wrong here. Based on 75% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, with the balance Cinsault, it was partially destemmed and brought up all in foudre. This beauty just about jumps out of the glass with its Provençal aromatics of ripe cherries, ground pepper, saddle leather, garrigue, and spice. These carry to a medium to full-bodied wine that has the vintage’s charming, pure character front and center, yet still brings good mid-palate density and ripe tannins. Buy a case, count yourself lucky, and enjoy bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of my all-time favorites from this estate. Crushed violets, licorice, red and black cherry, ripe strawberry and leafy elements are all pushed forward. Full-bodied and savory, the 2020 demands at least four more years in bottle to start showing its full potential.

Vinifikation
Die Vinifikation erfolgt traditionsgemäss, wobei die vier Hauptrebsorten (75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre und Cinsault) teilweise entrappt werden. Der Ausbau des Weins erfolgt ausschliesslich in grossen, neutralen Fudern (Holzfässern). Dieser Prozess in neutralem Holz ermöglicht es, die reine, würzige Frucht und den charakteristischen Ausdruck des Jahrgangs 2020 zu bewahren.
