The mid-weight Barone Ricasoli 2022 Chianti Classico Brolio-Bettino is 100% Sangiovese that faithfully respects the personality of the vintage. This was a warm and sunny growing season that delivered mature fruit flavors and a pretty sense of directness or focus. This wine ages in large oak for 18 months, and fruit comes from various sites with sandstone, schist, limestone and marine deposit with silt and clay. This is a classic expression of Sangiovese that never colors outside the lines. Production is 30,000 bottles.

Smoky cherry, plum, wild herbs and graphite aromas and flavors highlight this graceful red. There’s no shortage of structure, giving this potential for aging. Fine balance and length. Best from 2026 through 2038. 2,500 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

The nose pops with the tang of bing cherry, cranberry, hibiscus, blood orange and new leather. Those notes all continue on the palate, before a warm, spicy finish where polished, smooth tannins anchor a river of acid.

The 2023 Chianti Classico Bramosia offers up ripe red cherry, kirsch, mint, cinnamon, orange peel and a kiss of sweet oak. Racy and aromatic, the Bramosia is another wine in this range that is ready to deliver pleasure. The overt style works quite well here.

A darker expression of the vintage, this red sports black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet and iron aromas and flavors. Dense and solidly structured, with a detailed aftertaste. Sangiovese and Merlot. Drink now through 2030. 12,500 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.
