Checking in as 50% Grenache and 25% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, raised in 10% new barrels, the 2019 Gigondas La Grande Reserve reveals a dense purple hue as well as some meaty, bloody, peppery aromatics that give way to a medium to full-bodied Gigondas. It shows more violet and even orange blossom-like notes with air and is concentrated, has good acidity, and outstanding length.
